The Resurrection Was a Psychedelic Life-Altering Event

Rev (Dr.) Cynthia Ramirez Lindenmeyer

Death objectively offers a profound life-altering experience for the living. Funerals provide a safe consciousness space to mourn the loss of a loved one and confront our mortality. The journey through grief leads toward spiritual growth if one integrates and processes death not as an abstract academic problem but as an invitation to practice letting go of attachments and practice dying. Since no funeral service provided much-needed integration of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, the Resurrection became an extraordinary event that would forever transform lives touched by Jesus.

According to the New Testament, Jesus’ Resurrection changed everything for the disciples—it was like a psychedelic experience that dramatically altered their worldview. “Psychedelic” is derived from two Greek words that mean “mind manifesting.” The Resurrection of Jesus was an extraordinary event that metaphysically shifted perceptions. When Jesus reappeared after his death, it was a complete shock to his disciples, who were used to more conventional ways of thinking about grief and loss. His post-death appearance upended their expectations and forced them to reexamine their beliefs about life and death. To them, the Resurrection was a profound life-altering event. They needed someone to help them make sense of their altered reality.

This same lesson can still be applied today as we seek spiritual guidance to help us integrate profound experiences while navigating life's storms. If life feels disjointed, it is time to begin the process of spiritual integration to prepare for your resurrection. Integrating a profound experience into daily life will awaken renewed purpose, creative vision, and clarity.
