SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

Rev (Dr.) Cynthia Ramirez Lindenmeyer, Omaha World-Herald, Sunday, 8 AUG 2021, "From the Pulpit"
The ramifications of COVID infect all organizations, including religion. The increase in souls experiencing Religious Trauma Syndrome (RTS) reveals the complexity of the faith journey: The wanderer who wants nothing to do with a Divine Entity; the prodigal daughter who finds comfort returning to familial traditions; the wounded church hopscotcher judged by doctrinal decrees. The evolution of one’s relationship to the Universe involves complexities leading one far, far, away from the True Self. Yet, instinctively we Know. Stumbling upon the Knowing becomes a quest that Life invites all to engage.
The mind is the map that guides us, and the heart processes our experiences in the external world for the internal to follow. Hurt and pain abruptly alter our course, but love and peace beckon us Home.
If we could just ask Siri. Open Google Maps.
Trusting our inner compass can be overwhelming, especially when an obstacle like COVID enters the life voyage. The peace within crumbles, relationships fall into ruin, and suffering depletes the power with which we all are born—the capacity to love and forgive. Thankfully, we find this sacred truth in all religions: Life is a mirror that reflects what we see, hear, and feel. Our thoughts can control our navigation, yet it takes practice to direct our thinking mind.
To know what azimuth to follow, become aware of thoughts. Learning to affirm ourselves is a lifetime pursuit. Begin simply by saying, “I am loved.” Then repeat over and over (and over) until you believe this Universal truth. When you believe, you then look in the mirror and see a beautiful spiritual being created by the Universe.
